Hero Whole Grain

It was interesting to hear Jamie Oliver refer to ‘hero whole grains’ on his super ‘Super Food’ TV programme recently. We need no convincing of course – we have a great range of wholemeal base pizzas for you to try with great, tasty toppings. But, things do change over time.

In the Middle Ages white bread was a luxury food item because of the labour involved in refining flour. There was also something called ‘Horse Bread’ – low-quality bread made from dry split peas and the like, instead of grains, and intended for horses. Not surprisingly it was one of the cheapest breads available.

Let’s be thankful things have changed and you can think on that the next time you eat into one of our delicious wholemeal base pizzas.
